12.1 Local installation
This section describes how to install R, Rstudio, and a set ofimportant packages for the course.
- Download R from the CRAN page:https://cloud.r-project.org/. Atthe top of that page, choose the Download R link corresponding toyour operating system.If you use Windows, follow install R for the first time, thenclick the link to download R. The installation procedure is likeany other software, and you can safely use all default options.If you use Mac (OS X), download the pkg installer that matchesyou OS version and install like any other softwareLinux users are advised to use their package manager.
- Download and install the Rstudio Desktop Open source edition:https://rstudio.com/products/rstudio/download/#download. Vegerevenge mac os. Choosethe installer for your operating system and version. Install as anyother software.
- Slash or die 2 (itch) mac os. Start Rstudio and install the following packages: Snow! mac os.

- To be able to compile Rmd files into pdf, you will also need toinstall an additional software. On Windows, the easiest is toinstall

direct from the R console withtinytex::install_tinytex

Mac Os Versions

In the Process Name column of Activity Monitor, look for the X-Plane process. Look at the Real Mem column corresponding to the X-Plane process.
